TÜV SÜD America Granted CB Scope Extension

Peabody, Massachusetts, March 10, 2008. TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global testing and certification organization, has been granted a scope extension for their Danvers laboratory after reassessment by the IECEE (International Electrotechnical Commission of Electrical Engineers), the worldwide system for conformity testing and certification of electrical equipment and components. This extension greatly adds to the available list of IEC standards for which TÜV currently has accreditation, increasing the number to 25 available standards.

This CB scope extension will allow TÜV SÜD America continued testing capabilities in the OFF (IT and Office Equipment) category and additional testing capabilities in the following categories:
MED (Electrical Equipment for Medical Use)
HOUS (Household and Similar Equipment)
MEAS (Measuring Instruments)
TRON (Electronics Entertainment)

In addition to this scope extension, on February 13, 2008 TÜV's New Brighton, Minnesota facility joined the IECEE CB Scheme as an ACTL (Associated CB Testing Laboratory), offering the Office Equipment Scope which includes IEC 60950-1 (1Ed) and IEC 60950-1 (2Ed), respectively.

The IECEE CB Scheme is a multilateral certification system based on standards by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). Having products tested and approved to the IEC international standards makes international trade much easier and more cost-effective. TÜV is very pleased with the scope extension and looks forward to working with their customers on CB Scheme certification.
